Fence Damaged Bv Fire

Hot ashes began a fire which destroyed 15ft of paling fence and damaged a woman’s bicycle leaning against the fence on the property of Mr W. Potter at 5 Saltaire street yesterday morning. New Brighton firemen put out the fire at 11.49 a.m. An oven fire in the home of Mrs I. Bowden. 44 Petrie street, caused no damage at 12.58 p.m. St. Albans firemen attended.

At 12.33 p.m., a grass fire on the property of Mr D. Graham, 16 Burns street, caused no damage. Sydenham firemen attended. A grass fire spread over four acres off Springs road but caused no damage to property. Sydenham and Sockburn firemen put out the blaze.

Another grass fire on Kerrs reach was attended to by Woolston firemen at 3 p.m’. an hour after the alarm was given for the Springs road one.
