RECORD PRICE
N.Z. Lamb In London
(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.)
LONDON, December 2
An all-time record price of 2s lOd a lb for new season’s New Zealand “D” lambs (up to 291 b) has been paid on the Smithfield Market. The price for “tows,” which is the standard lamb in New Zealand grades, increased to 2s 8d lb, another record. Prices are high because stocks of “old season” New Zealand Jamb have decreased rapidly, and the new season’s supplies have not arrived in the quantity expected, as a result of delay in the discharge of ships. Retailers, wanting lambs to carry over until the week after Christmas, therefore snapped up a limited offering.
British Cannon.—A new British cannon, said to be capable of almost vaporising an armoured car, has been developed by a British firm, says the “Daily Telegraph.” The new gun was designed by the British Precision Company for the super-sonic Hawker Siddeley P 1154 allweather bomber.—London, December 21.
