ALCOHOLIC FLEW JETS

Airline Will

Hold Inquiry

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, Dec. 21.

British Overseas Airways Corporation will launch a full inquiry into the case of a commercial jet pilot who died an alcoholic, the “Daily Mail” reported today. Captain Leslie Broadhurst, aged 48, who piloted Boeing 707 jets all over the world, was described as an alcoholic by his doctor at an inquest last week. The cause of death was given as acute alcoholic poisoning accelerated by an overdose of drugs. The “Daily Mail” said one of the tasks of the inquiry would be to determine how Captain Broadhurst managed to escape detection by the rigorous medical and flying tests which are required by 8.0.A.C. pilots every six months.
