Morris Francis Might Win Greymouth Ist Leg Today

(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, December 20. The second day of the Greymouth Jockey Club’s Christmas meeting will be held at Omoto tomorrow. Some rain fell during last night but today has been fine with a fairly strong wind and so track conditions are likely to be similar to those of yesterday.

First day’s form should be a reliable guide and the first leg of the T.A.B. double, the Black Duke Handicap, is likely to provide another very keen tussle between Picket and Morris Francis, which were first and second yesterday, with only a nose separating them.

Marlow, which finished strongly for third is a lightweight possibility, while the consistent Silver Kingdom cannot be left out of calculations in this small field.

Charlborough, which won by five lengths in the second leg yesterday, should repeat this performance in the Dark Arrow Handicap with a rise of only 21b in weight. Sirtax and Glenmist are again the likely place fillers. Selections:— Noon. Tonka Hack Handicap: Sirtax, Filspar, Silver Princess. 12.35 p.m. Stately Lady Trot: Le Whip, White Smoke, Nephrides. 1.10 p.m.—Trial Stakes: Cleopatra, Idle Chatter, Glen Harp. 1.45 p.m.—Blake Duke Handicap: Morris Francis.
