Two Drowned At Week-end
A man and a boy were drowned in separate accidents at the week-end, the man near Opotiki, the boy near Te Kuiti, according to the Press Association.
A man was drowned on Saturday morning while swimming in the sea four miles on the Opotiki side of Pekaha. He was:
Kerama Kingi, aged 27. married with one child, of Waiopahi.
With a group he went to the beach but was swimming on his own when he disappeared. His body was recovered shortly afterwards by his friends.
A boy was drowned in the
Mangaokewa river, Puketutu, near Te Kuiti yesterday.
He was: Robert John Christian, aged 8, son of Mr and Mrs R. R. Christian, of Puketutu. The boy, who was fishing with two companions about the same age, slipped from a log into the river.
