Whirlwind Damage

(N.Z. Press Association) WESTPORT. Dec. 20. A severe whirlwind hurtled across the Kawatiri airport early this morning, smashing sft plate glass windows at the top of the Westport control tower and severely damaging the shed housing the airport fire tender. No-one was injured. The whirlwind hurled an empty 44 gallon drum against a shed more than 100 yards away and then blew it into adjoining farmland. The fire tender was only slightly damaged and no aircraft control facilities were affected.
