PURCHASE BY SON
Conan Doyle Manuscript
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright)
LONDON, December 20. A Sherlock Holmes manuscript was bought at auction today for the son of the famous sleuth’s creator. The manuscript brought £4500 at Christies’ auction rooms. It was “The Adventures of the Greek Interpreter.”
Sent in by an anoymous New York seller, the manscript was bought on behalf of Adrian Conan Doyle, son of the late Arthur Conan Doyle. A spokesman said the manuscript was discovered tucked inside a child’s exercise book in a private house. It was first published in “The Strand” magazine in 1893, and republished in “The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes” a year later.
