N.S.W. MAY PROTEST ABOUT BOMB
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, Dec. 8. The New South Wales Premier (Mr J. B. Renshaw) said today he would consider whether a protest should be lodged over the proposed French nuclear test in the Pacific. Replying in the Legislative Assembly today to Mr C. J. Earl (A.L.P. Bass Hill), Mr Renshaw said people in all parts of the world were concerned about the explosion of nuclear bombs in China and the proposed French test. Mr Earl asked if there was a Frenchman named Closter-
mann in Australia trying to “deaden the dread of the Australian people about the dangers of the forthcoming French nuclear explosion in the Pacific. “Is it a fact that this smiling, quick talker, has said there is no danger from the
proposed nuclear explosion?” Mr Earl asked. “If this quaint little bomb is so harmless, why aren’t the French letting it off in the Bay of Biscay or in a paddock in the South of France? “Is it a fact that this gentleman is alleged to have said that we must learn to live with the bomb?” He asked Mr Renshaw' to lodge a strong protest against “this act of French recklessness equalled only by that of China in its recent nuclear explosion.”
