FUBLIC NOTICES VICTORIA UNIVERSITY OF WELLINGTON EXCLUSION OF UNSATISFACTORY STUDENTS All students who have not passed at least two units in the last two preceding years of their academic studies are now automatically excluded from enrolling at the Victoria University of Wellington except with the permission of the University Council. The exclusion regulations In the University’s 1964 Calendar are revoked, and the following substituted:— 1. A person who has been excluded from any University or University College of Agriculture shall not be enrolled as a student of this University, except with the permission of the Council. 2. A student who has not passed at least two units over the last two preceding years of his academic studies shall not be enrolled as a student of this University except with the permission of the Council. For the purpose of this regulation, a "year of academic study” shall be any year in which the student was on the roll of students on June 1 or In which he entered for a degree or diploma examination.

3. A student who, having entered .for examination in a particular unit in three sessions, has not passed that unit shall not be enrolled thereafter as a student for that unit except with the permission of the Councl. 4. A person who, under these regulations, requires permission to enrol may In any year apply to the Registrar for such permission not later than January 15 in that year, enclosing with his application any information that he wishes to tender in support of his application. Applications for permission to enrol received after that date may be considered on payment of a late fee of £2 2s. 5. Where a student is granted permission to enrol under these regulations, that permission may be granted subject to conditions as to the Department or Faculty In which the Student may pursue his studies. Students who are excluded from enrolment under these regulations and who wish to appeal against their exclusion should do so in writing to the Registrar by January 15, as provided for in Regulation 4 Excluded students who intend to apply for reconsideration of examination scripts or who expect to sit February specials should ignore these possibilities and make their appeals by January 15. Any student who believes that these regulations will lead to his exclusion is invited, if he wishes, to consult the Dean of his Faculty or the Head of his major Department. Should the appointee be undertaking sclentic training for Ph.D., then the short Service Commission in the R.N.Z.N. would be of 6 years’ duration (including all training and services), otherwise it would be the normal 5-year short Service Commission. The appointee would undergo Naval training before going overseas to undertake studies at an appropriate university. The remainder of the commission would be spent at the R.N.Z. These commissions are designed to attract well qualified graduates to answer the scientific needs of the Armed Forces.
