WELLINGTON, Nov. 27.
The Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council has approved a total of 46 training, travel and teachers awards valued at nearly £27,000. In addition, grants worth £4OOO were approved for various activities in the visual arts. The awards cover overseas training, short term travel, teacher’s awards and training and study awards in New Zealand in music, drama, ballet and visual arts. There is a grant of £2593 to the Art Galleries and Museums Association for general assistance to small art galleries and museums, purchases subsidy fund, and exhibition of Oriental rugs. Other grants are £7OO to the National Art Gallery to tour an exhibition of Japanese art and craft; £75 subsidy to the Hamilton Art Gallery on purchase of work by Frances Hodgkins; and £2OO to the Society of Potters to assist it to arrange demonstrations by the master Japanese potter, Hamada.
