Incentives To Be Exposed
(N Z P.A -Reuter —Copyright) OXFORD, Nov. 27. The Oxford Union, the famous debating society at Oxford University, is offering a financial incentive to any member who takes a girl in a topless dress to the society’s ball next month.
Undergraduates were told at a meeting of the union last night: “Any member who feels brave enough to bring
a partner in a topless dress
will be given suitable financial encouragement by the society in the form of £2 for every topless partner.” Ten leading undergraduate members of the Oxford Union—the breeding ground for future Prime Ministers and top Parliamentarians—-
have agreed to take partners
wearing topless dresses. The names of the 10 are being kept secret—and double tickets for the ball, worth £4
4s, are being offered to any
one who can guess who they are.
Cheers at last night’s meeting of the union greeted the announcement that Oxford would play its part in keeping the topless craze going. The union president, Mr Eric Abrahams, was not over enthusiastic.
But he said: “After seeing the parties concerned, I cannot do anything to prevent them. If they want to come they are perfectly welcome.”
