REPORTED REMARKS
Correction By Board Member
A member of the Papanui High School board of governors, Mr O. C. Mitchell, said at a board meeting yesterday, he did not make the statement reported in “The Press” after the last board meeting that “apprentices with good firms knew more and were of higher standard than most teachers.” He said that last year, of the boys he examined some of the apprentices from good firms got higher marks than two teachers,' “or words to that effect.”
Mr C. C. McCready said that in fairness to “The Press” he though Mr Mitchell had had said what he had been quoted as saying.
