AWARDS FOR BRAVERY.—Royal Humane Society awards for bravery were presented to three young men at a meeting of the Rangiora Borough Council. The awards were made in recognition of efforts in rescuing four persons from drowning at Waikuku Beach. The Mayor (Mr L. E. Farr) is shown pinning one of the medals on Mr C. Bell, Kaiapoi, who, with Mr M. Lindsay, Waikuku (middle), rescued two youths on December 23, 1962. The other recipient, Mr P. Boden, Rangiora, at left, helped save two girls on November 24, 1963. The chairman of the Rangiora County Council (Mr C. L. Morriss) spoke on behalf of the residents of the county.
