Mr P. W. Smallfield has been appointed chairman of the Meat Export Prices Committee for three years.
Lieutenant-Commander A. D. Nelson, R.N.Z.N., and Wing Commander J. R. Claydon. R.N.Z.A.F., both of Christchurch, have been appointed honorary aides-de-camp to the Governor-General (Sir Bernard Fergusson). Mr J. N. K. Hill, who has been private secretary to the New Zealand High Commissioner in London (Sir Thomas Macdonald) for more than a year, will return to New Zealand early next year. His next appointment will be a second secretary in the New Zealand High Commission in Western Samoa. Mr Hill was formerly a member of the literary staff of “The Press."
Messrs D. R. Hegan (Kaiapoi), W. H. Young (Christchurch), and W. J. W. Innes Nelson) have recently been granted fellowship status as registered accountants by the New Zealand Society of Accountants. Mr J. A. Forrest has been re-elected chairman, and Sir George Coles and Mr F. E. Loxton, vice-chairmen for another term by the board of directors of the National Bank of Australasia. The Rev. Fr. K. J. Carroll, S.J., a member of the teaching staff of Holy Name College, Riccarton, will leave on December 1 to conduct a special 30-day retreat for religious brothers in Sydney.
