WELLINGTON, Nov. 27. B. Phillips-Moore, the tenthranked Australian tennis player, will compete in the New Zealand championships in Christchurch from January 2 to 10 next.
Phillips-Moore has written a letter to the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association to this effect. He will be partnered in the men’s doubles by the Wellington player, R. N. A left-hander, aged 26, he has beaten most of the top players in the world. His ground strokes are excellent his serve and volley adequate. He twice beat the American, Gene Scott, on the Australian circuit last year. Scott later reaching the men s singles final at the New Zealand championships. Phillips-Moore trained with the United States Davis Cupteam in 1963 before it won the cup from Australia in Adelaide.
