Long Swim The English long distance woman swimmer, 26-vear-old Miss Mary Revell, still hopes to be the first woman to swim Cook Strait. She intends arriving in New Zealand towards the end of this month to prepare for the swim, and is seeking a sponsor. Advice to this effect was received in Wellington vesterday from London.—(P.A.) Heavy Lift The Russian weight-lifter. Viktor Lyakh. broke his own world record for the middle heavyweight press with 369J1b at Volgograd.—Moscow, Nov. 25. Measles Victim The Dutch tennis player, T. Okker, was today forced'out of the New South Wales tennis championships by a bout of German measles. Officials are apprehensive that other players m the tournament may also have contracted G e r m a n measles, and will keep a close watch on all players for the next few days.—Sydney, Nov. Cycling Record The New Zealand Cycling Association has recognised the new national record of 59.65ec set by V. R. Newlove (Auckland) for the half-mile standing start at Western Springs stadium earlier this month.—(P.A.)
