Cutting Up Cars
More and more manufacturers are showing sectioned engines and cars at motor shows. Each engine or car is cut up by hand, most of the work usually* being done by apprentices. Some factories have special departments to do the work. To section an engine and plate the parts usually takes from six to eight weeks, and the finished job may be worth up to £BOO. A sliced-up car can take considerably longer, and most are worth at least £5500. After being shown at various motor shows the cars and engines are often presented to technical colleges to assist in the training of future mechanics.
