UNIVERSITY SALARIES
The Australian Government last week accepted all the recommendations of Mr Justice Eggleston in a report on academic salaries. He had been asked to recommend the standard salary for a professor and for a reader or associate professor to be adopted as a measure of academic salaries generally by the Australian Universities Commission. The salaries recommended were £A5200 for professors, compared with fA4600 at present, and £A4300 for readers or associate professors, compared with £A3600.
