MONEYFROM THE PAST

£27 “Windfall” To Rowing The Canterbury Rowing Association has decided to accept a belated windfall of £27 Is 2d, the only remaining asset of the long defunct Amateur Rowing Club. A letter from a firm of city solicitors was received at a meeting of the association last evening, which stated that for the past 50 years or so the sum of £27 Is 2d had been held in its trust account to the credit of the Amateur Rowing Club. The club went out of existence early in the century and inquiries had failed to discover any living members. It had been suggested that the money could properly be paid to the association. The president, Mr B. R. Walker, said he would be prepared to accept the money for the good of rowing as a whole. The meeting agreed. Mr W. Richards said that all rowing clubs affiliated to the association should have a clause in their constitutions for the disposal of money in the event of similar situations happening to them.
