No Pets In Park
Because cats and dogs are shot on sight in national parks, pet-owners who are thinking of visiting a park during the holiday season should make arrangements now for the care of their animals in that period, the chairman of the Arthur’s Pass and Mount Cook national park boards (Mr N. S. Coad) said yesterday. The policy of destroying dogs in the parks was nation-wide, Mr Coad added, and the policy was intended to protect native birds and prevent nuisance by dogs on tracks and around townships.
