CHANGE OF COURSE
Reefton Club Against Move (From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, Nov. 18. A meeting of the executive committee of the Reefton Jockey Club decided to vigorously oppose the proposal of the New Zealand Racing Conference that it should race at Westport under a centralisation scheme.
The meeting was informed that the club had been in existence for some 70 years and during that period it had provided useful service to owners and trainers and also served as a useful amenity in the district.
It was pointed out that the track and amenities were being extensively improved. Geographically the course was ideally suited to cater for horses from Nelson. Marlborough. North, Mid. and South Canterbury and was actually the town on the West Coast closest to those areas via the Lewis Pass.
