Tests With Bamboo
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Nov. 18. Varieties of bamboo were being test-planted in various parts of New Zealanu, the Minister of Agricu'ture (Mr Taiboys) said in Parliament today. He was replying to a question from Mr P. Blanchfield (Opp., Westland) who asked if the Agriculture Department was making any progress in the growing of bamboo in New Zealand in view of the fact that bamboo cane was being used in lai ger quantities in many parts of the world. Replying to a supplementary question from Mr Blanchfield, Mr Taiboys said he would make inquiries on the possibility of using bamboo instead of steel in the making of concrete.
