Makers Protest
(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) LONDON, Nov. 18. The Gun Trade Association, representing all Britain’s leading gunmakers, last night protested that the ban on sporting guns for South Africa was causing a heavy loss of business, the “Daily Mail” reported. “This country is faced with the permanent loss of the South African market,” it said. “Other countries, including West Germany, the United States, Finland, and France are continuing to export sporting arms to South Africa. “Mr Wilson’s ban will have no effect in South Africa and will only be of harm to this country.” A Midlands industrialist said, according to the “Daily Mail”: “One door has slammed. But the South African Government has only to go across the street. “This is the daftest thing
Mr Wilson has done since he set himself on fire with his own pipe.”
