The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) has accepted an invitation to become an honorary member of the Australian Institute of Builders. He joins the Duke of Edinburgh and the Prime Minister of Australia (Sir Robert Menzies), the only other two honorary members of the institute.
The former manager of Warners Hotel (Mr A. Tremain) will take over duties as manager of the new Hotel Russley, in Roydvale avenue, next week. The hotel will be officially opened about December 17.
Mr I. W. Wil by, a divisional officer with the Department of Social Security, Christchurch, will retire today after more than 40 years with the department, much of the time in Timaru.
Mrs R. de Roo, head of the commercial department of the Riccarton High School, has been appointed senior mistress at the Feilding Agricultural High School.
