SAIGON, Nov. 7. .iouth Vietnamese Air Force fighter bombers yesterday launched mass raids with 5001 b bombs, rockets and napalm against a Communist guuerrilla base 12 miles north-east of Bien Hoa. The base was late» reported to have been wiped out. The raids were in retaliation for last Sunday’s mortar attack by Viet Cong forces on Bien Hoa air base, in which Americans were killed or wounded and aircraft destroyed. The Air Force commander, Brigadier General Nguyen Cao Ky, who flew on one mis-
sion himself, said the raids were highly successful. An Air Force spokesman said three separate air strikes were ordered against the Communist base over a 10hour period.
