HOLIDAY IN N.Z.

Students From Japan A group of seven Japanese student climbers and trampers said in Christchurch during the week-end that they were delighted with their 50day motoring and climbing holiday in New Zealand. All members of the Wander Vogel Club, of Hosei University, Tokyo, they were entertained by members of the Japan Society in Canterbury before they left by car yesterday morning for the Hermitage, the first stopping place in their tour of the southern lakes area.

The party were exceptionally well organised, and had shipped their own car from Japan to Auckland for their tour, said the Honorary Consul for Japan, Mr J. S. Pallet, who entertained the party yesterday. According to Mr Ballot the leader of the group, Professor R. Katsurada, said there was considerable interest in New Zealand among Japanese students, and it was probable that further groups of students would make tours of New Zealand in the future.

The party will return to Christchurch on December 2 and will then continue their tour with visits to the West Coast before returning to the North Island. They will complete their tour at Auckland on December 21.
