DECISION TODAY

Programme For Piper’s Son (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE, Nov. 6. The Sydney trainer, M. Anderson. will not decide until tomorrow morning which race Piper’s Son will contest at Flemington tomorrow. Piper's Son is favourite for both the C. B. Fisher Plate and the V.R.C. Handicap. Anderson said "We will have a good look at the fields for the two races and make up our minds after the horse has worked in the morning.” Piper’s Son had pleased his trainer since his Melbourne Cun sixth. Mr P. Tyler, whose late father bred and raced Piper’s Son, said there was a possibility the stayer would tackle the Fisher Plate, with W. Camer the jockey. The Fisher Plate is a weight-for-age race of 12 furlongs, worth £3500 to the winner. The V.R.C. Handicap is two furlongs longer with a first prize of £2660. Contempler could be his only serious rival in the weight-for-age race. The V.R.C. Handicap, for which he is top-weight with 9st, would be harder. Welltown, third to Polo Prince and Elkayel in the Melbourne Cup, is a certain runner in the Fisher Plate. He will be ridden by Scobie Breasley. Barbatook will run in the V.R.C. Handicap. Roy Higgins will ride Summer Fiesta in the V.R.C. Handicap and the New Zealand horse Quite Able will start In this race in preference to the Fisher Plate. The £10.500 mile, the big race of the day, is open. Heroic Stone and Nicopolis are early favourites with most bookmakers. Elkayel is a hot favourite for the Archer Handicap.
