Good Trials At Hastings

“The Press" Special Service HASTINGS, November 2. There were some brilliant trials at Hastings this morning by horses with engagements on the opening day of the Napier Park races this Wednesday. There was considerable rain in Hastings yesterday and last night, but the course proper and inside grass were in first-class order this morning. The rain did not persist this morning and the weather has cleared. It will take much more rain to really soften the track, which should be good for Wednesday. Shady (J. S. Lundy) ran half a mile in 50 3-ssec, the last three with Kobe in 38 l-ssec. Shady was clear at the line and quite impressive He might race well in the President’s Handicap. Fair Deal (A. T. Jones) and Wyndee (K. Cullen) sprinted half a mile in 49sec. a fast gallop. The last three took 37 4-ssec. There was little between them. Wyndee runs in the County Hack Handicap and Fair Deal in the Meeanee. The last named may need a race but Wyndee is very fit. Naneda <B. S.
