A taxpayers’ association today offered free benzedrine tablets to a town’s councillors who fall asleep at meetings. The ratepayers* association at Bagshot Surrey, also offered a pension to any councillor over 70 who would resign immediately.
The secretary, Mr Dudley Glanefield, said: “We’ve got to get rid of aged councillors somehow and give the younger people a chance.”
