Glassed-in public viewing areas, a coffee lounge, covered inclined approaches to the ship and telescopic gangways, will be among improvements in the new inter-island wharf. The Wellington Harbour Board is spending £175.000 to cater for the Union Steam Ship Company’s roll-on, roll-off service to Lyttelton, by the new Wahine, building in the United Kingdom, and the Maori, which is due to leave for conversion into a sternloading vessel early in the new year.—(P.A.)
