TWO LINES MERGE
Stevedoring Operations (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 2. Stevedoring and carpentering operations of the New Zealand Shipping Company and Shaw Savill and Albion Line on the Wellington waterfront have been merged into the Wellington Stevedoring Company, Ltd. The new company started business in the port today, and Captain K. Murray Brown has been appointed manager. All staff previously employed by the two shipping lines have been re-engaged. The move follows in part one of the recommendations of the streamlining committee, and is expected to lead to greater efficiency and economy in stevedoring operations, a company spokesman said.
