COST OF FLIES
Prevention Cheapest
A fly infestation can be expensive, according to Mr R. H. Gee, senior health inspector to the Walmairi County.
“Prevention may take some time and trouble: but eradication can prove costlier, while putting up with flies may be more costly still,” Mr Gee said. Keeping flies out of the house might necessitate screening door* and windows, an expensive business. Killing the flies by spraying or other methods was also costly.
The costs of patting up with flies included frequent redecoration because of fly markings, and loss of income when a wage-earner was struck down by a fly-borne disease. Food* could be spoiled through being “blown” by blow-flies.
