“Miss Sugar” Here

Miss Shirley Anthony, aged 17, winner of the title “Miss Sugar” in a Fijian competition, arrived by air at Whenuapai today. Miss Anthony, who is a doctor’s secretary in Lautoka, is beginning a two-weeks’ holiday here as part of her prize in winning the contest. The 11 contestants in the competition had to raise funds for a crippled children’s hospital in Lautoka. One of 15 children—she has seven brothers and seven sisters—Miss Anthony has never been outside Fiji before.
Cabinet Meets.—The Cabinet of the Sudan’s new transitional government on Friday had its first meeting under the new Prime Minister, Sir el Khatim el Khalifa.— Khartoum, November 1.
