Export Institute Urged For N.Z.

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 1. The possibility of forming an institute of export for New Zealand is to be suggested by the Wellington Chamber of Commerce to the Associated Chambers of Commerce.

The organisation would be an information and education body, said the Wellington chamber’s export committee. Its main objective should be the promotion of export trade and the solution of problems of export performance. It should be able to com-

mand recognition throughout New Zealand and overseas as the central national co-ordi-nating point and source of information on all aspects of exporting from New Zealand. The institute of export would be expected to promote export trade by organising New Zealand trade missions to overseas countries and “in reverse” missions, promotional campaigns, and exhibitions.

It would be expected to provide “know how” on export problems by maintaining a bureau for the use of exporters and would-be exporters of New Zealand goods. It would also sponsor specialised training in export techniques—costing, packaging, market research, design, and international exporting codes and practices—which could be given as an optional part of existing commercial training courses.
