AMBERLEY SHOW PRAISED

Fine weather throughout made the Amberley Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s annual show held in the Amberley Domain on Saturday very successful.

Gate - takings at almost £l9O were about £8 up on the £lB2 taken last year, and for the majority of the afternoon, cars were lined around the show ring in rows as much as nine deep.

Surrounded by many trees and with a high embankment that affords an excellent view of the show ring, the Amberley show is one of the most picturesque and popular in the province. Entries numbered 2908, compared with 2771 last year. Not taking into account the junior section, the association had one of its best years on record, with the largest number of paying exhibitors ever. Judges commented favourably on the numbers and quality of the sheep, horses and cattle entries and in some livestock classes, the prizewinners were separated by very narrow margins. ~

Considering the very dry spring and preceding Winter, the stock were generally in excellent condition and were not showing the effects of the adverse weather, according to the judges. Many of the exhibits were well up to metropolitan show standard and some were capable of winning prizes at any show.

Horse entries were very large, but were handled expeditiously and the show was over soon after 5.30 p.m. Championship results were:
