TIRED TEAM RETURNS
Tour Thought Too Long (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, November 1. The Australian cricket team returned to Sydney on Saturday critical of the length of Its recent tour, through England, India and Pakistan. Many of the 19 team members looked tired and drawn. Several told reporters that they were still suffering the effects of stomach trouble contracted during the Indian section of their seven-month tour. The team captain, R. B. Simpson, said he was ’’very happy” with the way the tour had gone. But he was critical of Its length. Simpson said that matches in India and Pakistan following the tough English test programme "were just too much.” The team manager, Mr R. C. Steele, said the tour had made around £48,000 profit.
