Lower Grade Results

Third-round matches in the Canterbury Cricket Association's competitions began on Saturday. Lower-grade results were as follows: SECOND GRADE A Boys’ High School 168 (Bull 55, Hadlee 34; Prouting five for 39, Vaughan three for 67) met Lancaster Park 118 for six (McKendry 41 not out, Dunlop 39: Hounsell five for 48). High School Old Boys 76 (Todd four for 14) and 15 for one) met St. Albans 165 (Wylie 32 not out, Warburton 31; Shipley three for 20). West-University 167 (Adams 44, Kerr 34, Elliott 31; Sexton five for 48, Ryan four for 59) met Marist 213 for nine (McDermott 70; Riddolls three for 55). Christ's College 202 (Hunt 58, Blakely 34 not out, Bidwell 31; Sparks seven tor 74) met Technical Old Boys 125 for nine (Morten five for 41, Hunt three for 31). SECOND GRADE ■ St. Albans 155 (England 32, Fleete 30; Gibson six for 30) met Old Collegians 108 for three (Hunt 60). East-Shirley 99 (Woodlock six for 6, Amos three for 41) met Marist 134 for eight (Amos 30; Nicholl four for 29, Marshall three for 47). Burnside 189 (Reeves 69, Williamson 38, Taylor 30 not out; Heseltlne three for 40, Glasson three for 43) met Technical Old Boys 67 for two (Giblin 58). Sydenham 130 (Somers five for 46) met Riccarton 79 for six (Center 32). SECOND GRADE C Old Collegians 164 (Tipping 40; Saunders four for 50) met Lancaster Park 123 for three (Fuller 42, Lawson 39). Riccarton 122 (Cockburn four for 33) met West-University B 52 for six (Batchelor five for 18). St. Andrew’s 279 for seven declared (Taylor 66, Smith 59, Mcßae 56; Barwick three for 64, Knowles three for 73) met St. Albans-Teachers’ College 66 for six (Smith four for 39). ' East-Shirley 48 and 16 for one ; met High School Old Boys 79 (Cocks 35; Muff six for 33). PRESIDENTS’ GRADE Lancaster Park 307 for six declared (Withers 111, Barnes 73, King 38) drew with WestUniversity A 180 for seven (Little 87, Feary 43; Dryden tour for 25). East-Shirley 147 (Clifford three for 12, Thompson five for 33) beat West-University B 122 (Tregerthan 53; Geary three for 15, Pauling four for 31) on the first Innings. Sydenham 195 for seven declared (Wilson 72, Roberts 48; Mulcock four for 53) beat St. Albans 151 (Knowles 54, Collins 31; Cameron five for 40) on the first innings. Marist 169 (Hailes 59. O’Brien 37; Small five for 39, Escott five for 44) beat High School Old Boys’ 64 (Hannan ten for 18) on the first innings. Old Collegians 204 for four declared (Tocker 66, P. Harman 57) drew with Riccarton 173 for seven (McKenzie 50, Dawson 45, Garnet 41; B. Harman five for 47) THIRD GRADE A Lancaster Park 72 (Clark five for 17, Wilkinson three for 25) met High School Old Boys 168 for five (Osbourne 58 not out, Gorman 42). Old Collegians B 109 (Jellicoe 32; Barwick three for 12, Hughey three for 23) met Old Collegians A 247 for six (Blunt 60, Harman 50, Northcote 35; Hartnell three for 47). St. Albans 160 (Earney 44, Spring 43 not out; McLachlan four for 17, Webster four for 66) and 47 for two met Riccarton 84 (McLachlan 34; Napier four for nine, Mather four for 15). Sydenham 109 (Hooper 42; Crowhen seven for 28) and 55 for one (Hooper 38) met Technical Old Boys 120 (Corbin 30; Hughes four for 37, Bradshaw four for 42). THIRD GRADE B Lancaster Park A 195 for one declared (Watson 112 not out, Wilson 37, Ford 30 not out) beat Lancaster Park B 34 (Duncan five for 13, Lamport five for 13) and 141 (Duncan four for 28, Baker four for 34) by an innings and 20 runs. West-University 160 for two declared (Gilmore 75, Sturge 57) beat Riccarton 87 (Walker three for 31) on the first inntngs. Shirley Boys High School 195 for five (Rutherford 40, Jackson 38 not out, Roberts 32; Bodie three for 53) beat fit. Albans 42 (Hlckling four for seven) on the first Innings. Sydenham 103 for four declared (Hanes 30) beat Technical Old Boys 87 (Berry 31; Walker five for 31) and 50 for two on the first innings. Marist 99 for five declared (Peter O’Connell 41; Lynch three for 26) beat East-Shirley 28 (Sweeney three for four, Paul O’Connell three for eight) and 28 for one on the first innings. St. Albans beat Lancaster Park by default.
