Guillen And Thomson Sparkle In 3rd Round

It was riches to rags for the Old Collegians bowlers at Elmwood Park on Saturday. The side which in the previous round had humbled East-Shirley was plundered to the tune of £390 for six wickets by Sydenham, giving one of the most attractive displays seen in several seasons.

The way was led by W. Thomson, who scored a vigorous century, and with Old Collegians also scoring at a good rate, a total of 533 runs was scored in the day—enough to satisfy some of the greyest of the beards.

S. C. Guillan also scored a swashbuckling century for St. Albans against EastShirley, making his runs in even time and at Hagley 1 there was a dramatic collapse by Old Boys against Riccarton, then an equally dramatic recovery, in which the last pair, D. H. Hicks and W. M. Duncan, scored 82.

West Christchurch-Univer-gity had the better of a rather dour struggle with Lancaster Park at Ham.

The best bowling came from B. Andrews, playing his first senior game of the season. He took six wickets for Lancaster Park and J. W. Kiddey took five for Riccarton. There were six batsmen who scored halfcenturies —R. L. Thomas, D. L. Gallop, L R. Hartland, A. R. Mac Gibbon, R. C. Motz and P. G. Z. Harris. Scores.— Old Boys 207 and seven for one; Riccarton 128. East-Shirley 136; St Albans 185 for two. Sydenham 390 for six declared; Old Collegians 143 for six. West-University 182; Lancaster Park 105 for eight
