Cook’s Church Sends Beam
•N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) BRISBANE, Oct. 28.
An oak beam from the English church where Captain James Cook was married will be shipped to Queensland for use in a church in Brisbane, the vicar of Pine Rivers (the Rev. W. J. Morgan) said today. It will be made into furniture. Mr Morgan said the idea was to have a link with Captain Cook, who must have gazed on the site of the church, St. Mathews, when he anchored in Moreton Bay in 1770 on his way up the eastern coast.
