Ice Cream
Sir, —With pleasure I note from your paper that a new ice cream has come here, selling at Is 6d. The South Island firms have put their products up to 2s 3d, and likely to go higher because of the price of sugar. The sugar price is likely to drop soon. A whole pound of sugar costs 10s. I am quite sure there is not 2jd worth of sugar in the pint block—more like 2 oz, which totals IJd. Are the people going to stand for this sort of thing. I intend to make our own.—Yours, etc, HOUSEWIFE. October 26, 1964.
