Field Day At College
The Lincoln College field day will be held next Thursday. Morning tea is scheduled for 9.30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and thereafter the morning will be spent on a tour of the mixed cropping farm. Subjects which will be discussed during this session will include the profitability of a wheat-white clover rotation and its husbandry aspects, use of nitrogen on grass seed crops, research on the case bearer moth and electric fencing. In the afternoon the visitors will have the choice of visiting Ashley Dene, the dairy farm or the Crop Research Division. At Ashley Dene discussions will relate to lucerne, the technique for controlling the timing and spread of lambing and the course of farm prices. On the dairy farm, irrigation, weeds in fodder beet, calf disease and electric fencing will be on the programme.
