Philippines Call
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) MANILA, October 20. The Philippines has asked Indonesia to withdraw her guerrillas from the Malaysia mainland to “whip up a third summit conference” to settle the Malaysian dispute according to the Philippines Foreign Secretary, Mr, Mauro' Mendez. Mr Mendez told reporters in Manila yesterday that the Philippines was awaiting a reply from Djakarta. He said President Diosdad Macapagal of the Philippines felt Indonesia’s action had caused a serious setback to his peace efforts in the Malaysia crisis. Without withdrawal of Indonesian guerrillas from . the Malaysian mainland, the president felt, it would be useless to try to arrange a third summit, Mr Mendez said. The first summit meeting of the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia (then Malaya) was held in Manila last year. The three leaders met again in Tokyo last June, but failed to settle the dispute arising from Indonesia’s claim that
the new Malaysia federation was a neo-colonialist plot to encircle Indonesia.
