World records were broken in the finals of the men’s 4 x 400 metres and the women’s 4 x 100 metres relays in the final session of the Olympic athletics events today. The Amercian men's team —O. Cassell, M. Larrabee, U. Williams and H. Carr —finished inside the time of 3min 2.2 sec they set in Rome in 1960. The Polish girls foiled an American bid to make a clean sweep of the relay events by winning the 4 x 100 metres in 43.65ec, lowering their own record by six-tenths of a second.
