INDONESIANS’ VISIT
Churches Told Of Postponement The tour of New Zealand by 10 Indonesians, arranged by the National Council of Churches, has been postponed. The party was to arrive on November 10. The general secretary of the National Council of Churches (the Rev. D. M. Taylor) said last evening that the Indonesians, who included ministers, a student, and a hospital medical superintendent, were included in a party of 35 who were to visit Australia. Mr Taylor said he had received no reason for the postponement of the visit, but a letter from Australia had said some difficulty had been caused by a new “exit tax” law, which had trebled the cost of the visit.
The tour had been arranged by the National Council of Churches in conjunction with its counterpart in Indonesia. Mr Taylor said he was still waiting for further word on the reasons for the postponement, and information whether the tour would be made later.
