APPEAL BY CHINA
Disarmament Summit (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) PEKING, October 20. Mr Chou En-lai, the Chinese Prime Minister, has sent a message to the heads of Government of “countries of the world” calling for a summit conference on disarmament, the New China News Agency said today. The agency said Mr Chou sent a message on Saturday repeating the statement issued by the Government after China’s first nuclear blast the previous day. He called for a conference of all countries of the world to discuss “the complete prohibition and thorough destruction of nuclear weapons." The message repeated China’s statement that “in no circumstances will China be the first to use nuclear weapons.”
