TOWN HAIL ADVISER

New Architect Chosen

Mr G. R. C. Muston, a Wellington architect, has been appointed as the Christchurch City Council’s professional adviser for the architectural competition for the design of the town hall.

He replaces Mr E. W. Armstrong, who had to withdraw because of ill health. Mr Muston is a fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Architects and of the Royal Institute of British Architects, and an honorary fellow of the American Institute of Architects. He has received two gold medal awards from the New Zealand institute—in 1952 for the design of St. Joseph’s Orphanage, Upper Hutt, and in 1954 for the design of St James’s Anglican Church, Lower Hutt. He was president of the institute in 1957 and 1958.
