The Rev. J. A. Witbrock, M.A., has been appointed vicar of the parish of Lyttelton. He has served curacies at St. Albans and Avonside, after a year’s study in Germany. He will take up his appointment in the New Year. Mr Max Cheshire, of Christchurch, will leave this week for Chicago to attend the annual congress and exposition of the American National Safety Association, which is devoted to safety in industry. Mr T. A. Scrivener was elected president of the New Zealand Joinery Manufacturers’ Federation at its annual conference in Christchurch yesterday. Mr L. Prosser was elected senior vice-president and Mr J. Clarke junior vicepresident Mr L C. Gilmour, a senior officer of the dairy division of the Department of Agriculture stationed at New Plymouth, will leave Wellington for Dacca, East Pakistan, today for a two-year term under the Colombo Plan.
