MEETING DECLINED
Education Bill Discussion Disappointment has been expressed by the president of the Canterbury region of the Post-Primary Teachers’ Association (Mr H. C. Evison) that the management committee of the North Canterbury branch of the Education Institute does not wish to join it for a meeting to discuss the Education Bill. Mir Evison said he was disappointed at the institute’s reaction to his letter, which Invited its members to join his organisation at a meeting to exchange views on the bill, and to attempt to work on a common policy. In the letter which he circulated, Mr Evison said that since the bill was approaching the second reading his organisation regarded the proposal as deserving urgent consideration. Mr Evison said a letter from the president of the North Canterbury institute (Mr R. J. Harrison) said that negotiations on the bill were too far advanced to make a meeting worth-while.
