FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A depression over the Tasman Sea is moving eastwards on to New Zealand. Forecast:
Canterbury.—Moderate to fresh northeasterlies about the coast and moderate variable winds inland, possibly tending north-westerly later; cloud increasing, with rain becoming general in the alps and probably a few scattered light showers elsewhere late in the day; moderate or mild temperatures. Outlook: changeable. Buller and Westland.—North-easterlies; overcast, with rain developing; moderate or mild temperatures. Outlook: changeable. Marlborough and Nelson.—North or northwest winds, becoming fresh or strong in exposed places; mainly overcast, with rain spreading from the west to Nelson in the morning and Marlborough later; mild day temperatures.
