TO DRIVE AT ASHBURTON
F. E. Newfield Passed Fit
The Tempelton trainer, F. E. Newfield, has been passed fit to drive at Ashburton, today. He will drive three of the six horses he has . engaged at the Ashburton Trotting Club’s spring meeting. The Newfield stable will be represented by three runners in the Ashburton Flying . Stakes, first leg of the double. Newfield will drive Chiffon himself and Highland S.tep will be handled by D. C. Watts. As yet, no decision has been made about a driver for Garry Logan, the third member of .the bracket. Newfield’s other drives will be Siretta in the President'® Handicap, second leg of the double, and Starthallan, one' of two stable runners in the Eiffelton Handicap. April Showers, which is engaged in the first division of that race, will be driven by D. G. Jones.
